Hi
I have a 1TB hard disk on my laptop which is getting full even though all of my documents are either on a network drive or a cloud drive. I've noticed that the C:\Users\{name}\AppData\Local folder is a whopping 840GB!
I've already done the disk clean up on the C drive which has given me a measly 2GB back.
Am I able to delete anything from the AppData folder? Is something else likely to be going on?

Hello,
A few weeks ago i noticed high cpu usage by System and System Interrupt, so I started digging into it. Followed several posts, did all drivers updates after a clean install, power management, disabled devices from BIOS and device manager and ended up getting nothing. Yesterday I decided to open my lappy and remove the new components i had installed 3 months ago and when I removed my SSD and installed windows on old HDD, everything is back to normal.
Model: Dell Inspiron 15z 5523
CPU: 3rd Gen Intel Core i7 3537U 2.0 Ghz (3.1 Turbo)
Ram: HyperX Impact DDR3L 1866 Mhz (8x2) 16 GB Total
Storage: 1TB WD Blue 3D NAND SSD, WD Blue 500 GB Laptop HDD.
Graphics: Intel HD 4000 & Nvidia GT 630M
Please Help, I really need my SSD and my CPU to work normally to learn and do my projects.
I have purchased a gaming laptop in august of last year and it has been about 11 months since I've got it. For the first 8 months everything was amazing, i was getting high fps and good performance on all my games. Then about 3 months ago, the performance went dramatically downhill. I wasnt sure as to why this happened so i restored my whole laptop but to no effect.
Any ideas? Anything helps,
Thank you.
Specs:
Name: Asus GL503GE-RS71 ROG Strix Scar Edition 15.6" Gaming Laptop
CPU: i7-8750H
GPU: GTX 1050 Ti
RAM: 16 GB (Initially 8, I upgraded to 16 about 2 months into buying the PC.)
Memory 1: 500 GB 3.5" SSD
Memory 2: 250 GB M.2 SSD
The computer is a Compaq15 64-bit, running Windows 8.1. It has 2g memory and a 500gb hard drive with plenty of available space.
I'm trying to help a friend with his computer being extremely slow. The language on his computer is Spanish. He doesn't speak much computer and I don't speak much Spanish, so please bear with me.
According to Task Manager, the problem seems to be caused by a task running continually and consuming from 51 to 57% of the CPU. The task is Service Host Local System (13) this number varies from time to time but is usually in the teens. I have been working with this problem for about five days now. I think I'm safe in saying that I've tried at least 50 different fixes none of which has worked for more than a few hours and this task kicks off again. I started out thinking it was a problem only with this task kicking off for no reason because nothing was running on the computer at the time. At least nothing that I was aware of.
Last night I seemed to have it fixed because the computer ran for about four hours without the task consuming the CPU. It stayed down around 2 to 7 percent which I thought was acceptable.
Then, before giving it back to him, I decided to take a look at Windows Update through the Control Panel.
The option was set so that the updates would be automatically installed. But when I looked at the History of Installed Updates, the latest update was done in April 2018, so over a year ago. I decided that had to be wrong, so I clicked on the option to have Windows Update look for Updates. It has been running since last night and the Service Host Local System task is now back up to consuming over 50% of the CPU.
Now with that long explanation, would it be normal for Windows Update to look for updates for this long because they have not been updating properly? And would this search for updates cause the Service Host Local System task to use that much CPU?
I think he turns his laptop on only when he uses it and then turns if off. He does not leave it on all the time like I do with my laptop. Mine is on 24x7. We are on a very slow ISP so maybe the updates don't have time to download but are marked as updated on the Windows server. That's a guess of desperation on my part. And if that is the case, how do I get all the missed updates to install? Will it all happen automatically if I leave the computer on continually for the next few days?
Thanks so much for any help and suggestions.
Thank you for sharing your information!
however, it seems that your reply is for the earlier windows version. In the windows 10, there is no place for typing inWSRESET
Every time I put my laptop to sleep and have a Windows Explorer window open, the CPU goes to 100% for several minutes after waking up the computer. If I wait for a long time, it will eventually go back to normal, but most often I close all the Windows explorer windows, manually or using Task Manager, and reopen them again to get to a normal CPU working load. I have not been able to identify clearly with process explorer what is causing this, although SHCORE.DLL is one of the suspects. Searching on Internet I have surprisingly not found many similar cases, so I do not know how to proceed.
Running sfc gives a few errors, which do not seem to be possible to repair, but I doubt it has anything to do with this problem.
I have checked the files at virustotal.com, and no virus has been detected.
As far as I remember this laptop has always behaved like this, so I cannot relate it to any specific update or installation. Moreover I almost only use portable apps, which normally should not mess with system settings.
Any ideas of how to proceed to find what is causing this very annoying error is very appreciated!
The computer is an Acer Aspire E13, still running Windows 8.1. (I upgraded temporarily to Windows 10, but the error as described above was still there.)
Hi,
I upgraded my ASUS UX302LG HDD (Windows 8.1 Pro) to a Samsung 840 EVO SSD today. I used the Data Migration software from Samsung to clone the existing HDD, then installed the SSD.
Although the laptop starts amazingly fast, the CPU now sits at 40-50%, and burns through my battery in about45 minutes! In Process Explorer, no single process seems to be the culprit, other than the System Idle Process at 80-90%. I haven't installed any other software, malware, I simply cloned the drive.
I've been trying many things out all day, many reboots etc.
Is Windows 8.1 interacting with the SSD strangely? Perhaps there is a way I can use Process Explorer to provide more information? Is it normal to have the System Idle Process at 80-90%?
Appreciate the help in advance.
Hi,
I'm having memory leaks, I think, in Windows 8.
After some time it accumulates commit charge to the max.
Right now, it is 150h of running (by the idle CPU) and it has 16G in commit charges. Physical stays at ~4-5G at all times. With time commit charge goes to ~32G and suystem starts to be sluggish more and more in the process. Here's the RAMMap:

and here's the top memory users..

I'm using Windows 8 on Samsung Series 7 Laptop
CPU: i7-3635QM
RAM: 8G + 16G Express cache
Video: Nvidia GT640M + Intel HD 4000
I have tied to disable Express cache without effect
I updated the video drivers and it seemed to improve a bit, but still has similar effect.
Every time I reboot it starts almost normal with 3-4G of physical use and a bit more commit, and then grows.
I seem to be getting rather random DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION Blue Screens recently. I've only had Windows 8 installed for about a day now but it wasn't happening yesterday evening so I'm assuming it's a recently installed app, possibly.
I've done some digging and I realised that most people are having problems with this particular error and the likes of AVG and Avast, along with a host of other third-party programs.
Essentially, the problem, and solution, is generally specific to the victim, making it difficult to remedy my own problem based on their findings.
Could anyone perhaps help me analyse my .dmp file or suggest another possible fix? :)
The help would be very be appreciated, this problem is really bugging me!

Please suggest a way to migrate Ubuntu's location, currently residing in AppData/Local/Packages, to other drive as it is consuming too much of space.
