Hi there, recently I've reinstalled Windows 8 due to my OS SSD having failed. I've noticed though that I've been having some very prominent sound jitter in just about all areas - games, movies, various music players.
The only solution has been to run WASAPI exclusive mode but obviously that's specific to music listening only and still not always ideal for music listening.
I thought the Windows 8 setup must have gone bad having installed a bad driver or some such so I formatted and installed Windows 8 again; but the problem persists having tested for sound jitter on a very fresh Windows.
I've tried different audio devices - USB DAC, on-board realtek, and a HSDP 9632 PCI soundcard - all experience jitter. Considering that WASAPI exclusive mode resolves my problem I'm guessing there must be some problem with Windows 8 direct sound.
Please help me find a solution because it is incredibly irritating.
